Tamara Johnson Matheus

Tamara Johnson Matheus has been an instructor of Understanding Character© and a licensed interpreter of the Personal Survey© since 1986. In the mid-1980s after completing her B.A, Tamara joined her father, Chuck Johnson, in his work developing Understanding Character© . She works with clients both in their own corporate facilities and in other locations. She instructs classes, works with associates one-on-one, and consults with owners, CEOs, and presidents regarding plans for creating and supporting the development of people within the business.

In 1996 she formed Wingspan, Ltd. This merged the philosophies of Understanding Character© with outdoor experiences, creating another avenue to support the success of individuals on the path of personal growth. She has taken groups

  • sea kayaking among Lake Superior's Apostle Islands National Lakeshore
  • hiking, camping, and whale watching on Washington's Olympic Peninsula
  • exploring Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula
  • joined forces with Chuck, taking a group to several European countries

She has also led retreats for individual client groups in the general region that their businesses are operated. Each event integrated Understanding Character© discussion with a new and challenging environment. Wingspan, Ltd. was formed with the philosophy that people, especially those assigned to lead others, need to continually broaden their horizons and offers experiences designed to accommodate that need.

Tamara's passion has always been travel. She believes offering professionals an environment which is new, but not threatening, along with Understanding Character© simply helps them see a bigger picture and maintain perspective in business.

"When we lose perspective, we have lost our ability to be contributors. It's important to find place and time to maintain perspective and ensure we are living the life we want to lead. If we are assigned a leadership role, others are counting on us to do this."
